Credit Manager – Finance

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Vice President Finance and the President, the Credit Manager is responsible for the credit worthiness of all new and existing clients as well as the collection of funds for Tricots Liesse and 417.

 Major Duties & Responsibilities

The Credit Manager is primarily responsible for, but not limited to the following:


  • Creates all new accounts for Tricots Liesse
  • Runs credit check reports including third party vendor CIT (with whom Tricots Liesse has a contract)
  • Requests financial statements if required
  • Using all of the above. Determines the credit worthiness of the new customer
  • After credit worthiness is established, determines the credit terms to be applied
  • All credit is checked before shipping or new orders
  • Based on the contract with their factors, must decide which orders to be collected by their factoring company, CIT
  • Occasionally uses Export Development Canada


  • Most orders are net 60 days; begins the collection process (telephone, email) when invoices unpaid after 65 days. Uses AR ageing reports for this purpose
  • Will occasionally put accounts into collection and litigation
  • Invoices are printed from the AS 400 database but need to be transferred into the accounting software (Nashen). Each month, runs a report to ensure that all invoices transferred from AS 400 were received in the Nashen accounting program
  • Processes all payments daily for 417 and Tricots Liesse
  • Prepares the bank deposit
  • Posts receipts to accounting software (Nashen)
  • Makes the deposit internally using their banking software (therefore does not need to leave to go to the bank).
  • Prepares a cash receipt projection by week for 4-5 weeks ahead; used by the VP Finance and President for the cash flow projections

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Able to read and analyze financial statements
  • Previous experience with credit and collections including U.S.
  • Previous experience working with factors
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to use MS Excel and application software
  • Good communication and multitasking skills
  • Negotiation skills
